The article “The stories we tell ourselves” seems to use the writer’s story to represent different ways of how we like to see ourselves and how we express ourselves accordingly. To me, using his story, the article points out the fact we visualize a picture of ourselves and that we want other to see us in a certain way, so we try our best to tell the stories to look that way. The author makes a good point when stressing that the picture we visualize might not always be who we really are. Moreover, I appreciate the author mentioning we all tell different stories and that it is good to be aware of something existing under the surface too.
The story of the second article is more to emphasize a problem within the health insurance system. To me, the author tries to illustrate the greatness of the problem and, by sharing her own story, shows what can happen if the change is not done. Therefore, it might try to persuade the readers to get involved.
The last article uses a retrospective look to try to understand why a dad left his son. It seems to me that the author, by telling the whole story, shows that even though we are unable to understand some things in some age, they might be a little more understandable in a different phase of our life. Additionally, the author seems to try to say that people deal with their feelings and situations (which may seem the same) differently and that we ourselves are the ones who we must and often are afraid to face.
